Connected Accounts Overview

You can connect several types of accounts to Simplified HR. Connecting accounts allows integrations to work.

The following account types can be connected:

  • Google Account

  • Microsoft Account

  • SMTP

  • Twilio SendGrid

  • Brevo

  • Twilio

Connect Google Account

A Google account needs to be connected in order for Calendar events to be synced with Simplified HR. Domain wide authority is required.

Important: A Super Administrator of the Google Workspace account must complete the configuration steps below.

Configure Google Workspace Domain-Wide Delegation

  1. Go to your Google Workspace domain's Admin Console, then to the main menu (hamburger menu) > Security > API Controls.

  2. In the Domain wide delegation pane, select Manage Domain Wide Delegation and click Add New.

  3. In the Client ID field, copy and enter the service account's Client ID: 117272768677386994628.

  4. In the OAuth scopes (comma-delimited) field, copy and enter the following scopes Simplified HR will need to be granted access to: https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar, https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events

  1. Click Authorize.

Result: Once authorized, Simplified HR is granted the required Calendar and Calendar Events access, and Google Calendar events will synchronize with Simplified HR.

Connect Microsoft Account

A Microsoft account will synchronize Microsoft calendar events.

Register Microsoft Application

To authenticate with the Microsoft identity platform endpoint, you must first register your app at the Azure app registration portal. You can use either a Microsoft account or a work account to register an app.

Our service will call Microsoft Graph under its own identity. You need to register your app for the Web platform, with the following values:

Configure Microsoft Graph Permissions

To configure application permissions for your app in the Azure app registration portal:

  1. Under an application's API permissions page, choose Add a permission.

  2. Select Microsoft Graph.

  3. Choose the Calendars.ReadWrite permission for the app under Application permissions.

These permissions are required so that the application can read and write calendar events on behalf of the connected account.

Generate Microsoft Client Secret

To configure an application certificate for your app in the Azure app registration portal:

  1. Under an application's Certificates & secrets page, choose Client secrets.

  2. Click New client secret.

  3. Fill in the description and choose the expiry.

  4. Click Add.

Security Note: Client secrets are sensitive credentials. Store the generated secret securely and do not share it publicly or expose it in documentation, screenshots, or unsecured locations.

Connect SMTP Account

SMTP allows Simplified HR to send emails through your email provider using a generic protocol that most providers support.

Refer to your email provider's documentation to find out what the relevant SMTP information is for their service.

Configure Google Workspace SMTP

Refer to Google Workspace's documentation for SMTP relay configuration (Option 1: Send email with SMTP relay).

Configure Outlook SMTP

Refer to Outlook.com's documentation for the relevant POP, IMAP, and SMTP settings.

Connect SendGrid Account (Twilio SendGrid)

Send emails through SendGrid by filling out the relevant information, including your SendGrid API key.

Security Note: API keys are sensitive credentials. Do not share them publicly or expose them in documentation or screenshots.

Connect Brevo Account

Brevo (formerly Sendinblue): Send emails through Brevo by filling out the relevant information, including your API key.

Connect Twilio Account

The Twilio section (not to be confused with SendGrid, a Twilio email product) allows you to send SMS messages using your Twilio account. You will need to provide the relevant information, including your Auth Token and Account SID.

  • Account SID — identifies your Twilio account.

  • Auth Token — authenticates requests made using your Twilio account.
